Cruising the Ocean Blue
Wow- so much has gone on since the day school got out! I am literally going to have to break it into multiple blogs. This will be the first of quite a few that I hope to get done in the next few days.
The day after graduation, we left for our 7-day cruise to the Bahamas (remember- the one that was supposed to be a 5-day to Mexico- thank you swine flu) :). It was a blast! I have to admit that I was not really looking forward to it as I am not really a big cruise type person, but all in all the Carnival Fantasy made for a pretty fun time. We owned at ALL of the trivia games on board, met lots of cool new people, heard more Louisiana accents than we ever have before, and enjoyed our time w/ Billy's parents and sister/bro-in-law. Our first stop was Key West, Florida where we went to the Hemingway house (can you tell Billy is an English teacher). We had a really"colorful" tour guide and I really enjoyed seeing all of the polydactle (sp???) kitties running around (when once asked about why he had so many cats- Hemingway said "One cat always leads to another"- so true!) We also had so homemade key lime pie- YUMMY! In Nassau, Bahamas we went to a really neat zoo and nature reserve. We got to see lots of really cool animals, feed some exotic birds, and I got to be in the flamingo (the national bird of the Bahamas) show at the end of the day! And, in Freeport, Bahamas we went to an awesome beach resort. There we rode some ocean kayaks and, get this..................did a flying trapeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so awesome! I have ALWAYS wanted to do a flying trapeze and we didn't even know it would be at this resort- it was such a great surprise. The minute I saw it I told Billy that we HAD to do it. It was really scary but really fun. And the best part is, now I can say I've done it!
So, that's our cruise in a really small nut shell. It truly was a great way to start the summer.
PS- I've uploaded the video of me doing the trapeze- enjoy!!!!!! :)
