Jaime has been doing most of the blogging, but with her being out sick (more on that later) I'm (Billy) actually taking over the duties! Don't worry though, she will return quickly with her usual spirit and energy.
So it's the first week of school...and Jaime has a throat infection. There are multiple theories as to how it started (the haze from the burning in Sumatra, general bacteria in a new climate, or one of the other newbies) but the bottom line is, she has had to stay home and not work this week- which suffice to say has been tough and frustrating for her. However, the doctor gave her some antibiotics and did a culture to make sure it wasn't strep throat, and hopefully she will return to work fully rested and ready to rock and roll on Friday.
Other than that, Malaysia has been great. Our newbie class (the group of incoming teachers) are all really great- and the coolest part about meeting all of them is just learning about where they are from. We've got Canadians, a few Brits, an Aussie, the daughter of a Chilean diplomat, and a half Peruvian married to a Japanese lady. It's cool, because to them, Houston is just as exotic as their countries are to us!
As for school- it's been a big adjustment. The students are great, and block scheduling is awesome, but the toughest part of it has been being separated from each other. We got a car though and carpool in the morning and afternoon (in the CRAZY Malaysia traffic!)
Anyway, more to come- I just wanted to keep everyone posted!

Hey guys! Sorry to hear Jaime is sick I hope she is doing better. Nikki was wanting to say hi to you guys and that she misses you as do I. It is good to hear that you have met the other new teachers and that they are fasinated with Houston. Just wondering, how many times have they asked you to say Ya'll? When I was in Australia that was a big thing. Nikki starts school on the 24th. I will make sure to take a picture of her and e-mail it to you so you can see what she looked like on her first day. Glad to hear about the place you got and all of that. Everything sounds great. Cant wait to visit. Love you guys Sherry
