Almost There

Well, it has been quite the month since our last post. There have been really high highs and really low lows. But, all in all- we are good. We are almost to the end of our first semester and grateful to have made it this far. We are both really looking forward to welcoming my parents in only 1 month! It will be their first trip overseas and we are doing everything we can to ensure it will be a fun one. It seems so odd to us that Thanksgiving is next week, and Christmas is just around the corner. It is still 90 degrees here everyday (as it is all year long), so hearing Christmas music blaring from local stores is kind of funny. There are Christmas decorations everywhere and people in shorts and flip flops. Being from Texas, it's not like we are used to snow or anything- but we are at least used to some sweaters and cool weather. Our plan is to go white water rafting on Christmas day, and that is something we could certainly never do in Texas- so I guess we have to think about it like that. :)
In an effort to make the best out of our time here, Billy and I have really gotten out there and done some fun stuff. We joined a Bible study group, took a Thai cooking class, had a football party at a friend's house, sang the night away at a karaoke club (very Asian), and discovered even more amazing food stalls. Some good friends of ours are getting married this Friday, so it will be our first "Malaysian" wedding (although she is American and he is Korean). And, we leave for Singapore on Thanksgiving day. Needless to say- we have been pretty busy- and we pretty much like it that way.
Thanks goes to all of you who sent words of encouragement after our last blog entry. We certainly did not write it to imply that we were miserable, just that we have good days and bad, and are learning as we go with this whole overseas thing. We have truly learned that perspective really makes a difference. All of your encouragement surely helps us to keep the right perspective. We are blessed to know all of you!
That's all for now. Hope all is well with you (wherever you are). Hope you have a GREAT start to the holiday season.

PS- Enjoy these few pics from our Thai cooking class- sooo yummy!
Traditional Thai Beef Salad- the BEST dish we made! YUM!
Billy cooking up some Thai Green Chicken Curry- also very yummy!
